7 Tips for Your Wedding Thank You Notes

After your wedding, expressing gratitude to your guests with thank you notes is essential. Here are 7 do's and don’ts to help you with this task:

DOs:

  1. Mail Your Cards Within Three Months: Aim to send out your thank you cards within three months of your wedding. While there is a grace period, sending them sooner is better, so you can focus on other things after the wedding.
  2. Write Them in Groups: Don't overwhelm yourself by trying to do all the thank you notes at once. Instead, write them in manageable groups of 5-10 per week. This approach allows you to craft more thoughtful and meaningful messages.
  3. Be Organized: Keep track of the gifts you receive, whether from the bridal shower or the wedding itself. Use a notebook or spreadsheet to help you remember what each person gave you, making the thank you note writing process easier.
  4. Divide and Conquer: Involve your partner in writing thank you notes, especially for their family and friends. Sign the cards with both names or even co-sign them to show appreciation together.

DON’Ts:

  1. Use Pre-Printed Cards: Avoid using generic pre-printed or fill-in-the-blank thank you cards. Your guests put thought and effort into their gifts, so take the time to write personalized messages to show your gratitude.
  2. Forget Anyone: Remember to thank everyone who played a part in your special day, from guests who attended to vendors who provided services. Show appreciation to your photographer, DJ, florist, parents, and the wedding party.
  3. Write a Novel: While heartfelt, you don't need to write lengthy thank you notes. Four to five sentences are sufficient to express your gratitude, thank them for their presence and gift, and share how you plan to use it.

With these tips in mind, you'll handle thank you notes like a pro. Remember to take it one step at a time, there's no need to overwhelm yourself by trying to complete them all at once.
