Should I hire a wedding planner?

Wedding planners are a great resource and can be total lifesavers. We have also never heard any of our couple's regret hiring a wedding planner. Here are some flags that you might want to consider hiring a planner.

Should I hire a wedding planner?

Wedding planning should be fun, but it can also get stressful very quicky. The pandemic has also added another layer of uncertainty to wedding planning. When should you make the call to hire a professional wedding planner?

After getting engaged you’ll be super eager to get started and dive headfirst into planning. The first few tasks you tackle with wedding planning, drafting up your guest list, touring some potential wedding venues and possibly setting the date will come easily. But as your to do list might seem to grow your stress might build to.  Here are some signs you might be ready to ask for help and hire a wedding planner.

Wedding Planning Becomes a Task
If the tasks start feeling like chores and less fun that is a sure sign you are burning out on the wedding planning.  It’s ok during planning to take breaks, check off some things on your list then enjoy just being engaged.  You want to remember your engagement and remember the good, not the stress-induced anxiety.

Procrastinating on the Big Things
Wedding planning can be tiring contacting different vendors, setting up appointments, and keeping track of each one, that can be a lot for anyone! Most likely you have a list of tasks to get done so prioritize the list and tackle one thing at a time.

Second Guessing
Are you overthinking your decisions? Does every detail feel wrong? If you are finding yourself second guessing everything takes a break from the planning, get your mind off the planning. Then when you come back to it you will have a clear mind and realize you are stressing over nothing!

Caught Up in Small Details
You want everything to be perfect (which it will be!) But are you fixated on every detail leading to obsessive attention to detail?  To prevent stress and avoid becoming a monster, give yourself a reality check. Do you want the stress of wedding planning to influence your mood?

Lack of a Social Life
Chances are you are already a busy person with work, social obligations, and everyday activities, so adding wedding planning to the mix can put a damper on things. Planning your wedding should be fun and enjoyable, so it is important that your relationship doesn’t take the back seat to wedding planning.

It is normal to be a bit stressed while planning your wedding, since it is probably the first time you have a planned any event to this scale.  You are not alone!  Our best piece of advice is to do one task at a time and keep working on your list. Do what is most important to you first.  It is ok to call in for help! Wedding planners can plan everything out from the beginning or pick up where you left off. They can also help in your vendor search to match you with the perfect pros, and they can even save you money! You can even have them there on your wedding day so you can relax and enjoy the day while you get to enjoy your wedding day.
