Don’t just start browsing venues even though it is extremely tempting. You first need to figure out what exactly you are looking for. To find what you are looking for we will give you a few things to think about to help narrow down your search options.
Think about where you want to get married. Do you want something close to where you live, somewhere a bit farther? Do you prefer a city or something quieter? How about a beach? Make sure you take into account where your ceremony will be if it will not be at your venue. You will want your ceremony to take place within the proximity of the venue, so it is easy for guests to travel to both locations.
It is important to have a general idea of your guest count so you can shop for size-appropriate venues. You don’t want to fall in love with a venue only to find out you would need to cut your guest list in half to hold your wedding there. Besides the general capacity of the venue itself, it is also important to factor in other things that will be at your wedding. Is the dancefloor a good size? Is there room for a cake table? How about a photo booth?
If your planning to have your ceremony at the venue look at the ceremony space if it is different from the reception space.
Look & Feel
If you have a theme for your wedding or a certain look for you are going to keep that in mind. Do you want a venue that is more formal or casual? Rustic? Elegant? Or do you want something more neutral so you can do whatever you want to it?
There it is the word everyone wants to know, how much will it cost. Before you start searching for venues it’s important to try and establish a budget. The venue will most likely take up a big portion of your budget especially if the food is providing through the venue. Whatever you do though don’t spend your entire budget on the venue as there are several other important items you will need for your wedding like your photographer and DJ.
Be sure to narrow down your venue search so that you’re not overwhelmed when you start browsing wedding venues. Make your search more productive, narrow your options for each of the following factors:
- Look and feel
And remember, before you shop for your venue figure out these items first: budget, guest list, and date.
