When Do I Book My Wedding DJ?

Arpeggio gives real examples of when couples book and the timeline of when you should be booking your wedding entertainment. Tips on your wedding planning timeline, including guides to when to book certain vendors.

When Do I Book My Wedding DJ?

Engagement seasons runs from Thanksgiving to Valentine's Day. After the engagement begins all the planning for your wedding day.   You don't want to be "late" in the planning process as that will result in you not getting the "pick of the litter" with your wedding professionals, the longer you wait, the less choice you have on your wedding professionals.

According to The Knot, the average engagement length for U.S. couples is 15 months. COVID 19 has made some couples' engagements last longer since they decided to push back their wedding plans.

It’s highly recommended to have a rough idea of your guest list before you even start thinking about your venue, cake, flowers, DJ, and everything else.

Remember, every wedding planning website has its wedding planning timeline and its thoughts on when to book what. We always are a bit baffled since we believe you should do what is important to you first. We recommend deciding on your venue first since most other professionals will not be able to tell you if they are available if you do not have a date and location for your wedding.

So when should you book your Wedding DJ?
The Knot says 9-11 months
WeddingWire says 9 months
Brides.com says 6 months
We say book your DJ 10-12 months before your wedding day.

Because of COVID-19 many couples who had planned to get married in 2020 had to postpone their wedding to 2021, and some moved to 2022. That means availability will be tight for some of the venues and wedding pros you may want to hire for your wedding day.   We are also already seeing a big trend in weekday weddings.

The majority of our couples booked 8-12 months out. At Arpeggio, a lot of couples seem surprised that we are completely sold out at 6-8 months before their wedding date.  Waiting too long to book your wedding DJ will leave you with a limited number of available DJs to choose from.

Don’t forget to use your professionals for recommendations for other services you are looking for. They will know who will fit into your style, budget and who they trust to work with which is the most important thing.
